Sedona...
Where old friends become new friends again!
Old Young-At-Heart Friends!
After my folks left… literally the next day… we had a chance to catch up with some old friends of ours… kindred spirits, really. Dave & Cindy. 💖
Dave and I go waaaay back! He was my youth leader in high school. He also was one of two pastors who married Melissa and I, so he (and Cindy!) hold a special place in our hearts.
I regret that a lot of years went by without keeping up, but it was so great to reconnect and enjoy some very quality time with these two beautiful people during the last stretch of our Sedona stay. We already had Sedona on our “must visit again, frequently!” but knowing Dave & Cindy are nearby just upped the ante on those plans even more!
We got to enjoy some hikes with them, wander through Sedona and Tlaquepaque (pronounced TA-LA-KA-PA-KEE), and enjoy some fine Mexican dining at El Rincon. Yum!
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at their place, including a very special welcome sign (Thanks Cindy!)
We will see you both again soon! Count on it!
A Funny Side Story
So Dave, it turns out, had planned to make a visit to Steamboat. We still had a few days with him, but then while we were still in Sedona, off he went for Ski Town, USA.
“Go pop in to Causeway Coffee House” we told him. “Our daughter works there”.
So pop in he did.
“Hey, is Emma working today?” he asks.
But our daughter doesn’t know who Dave is (I mean, she knows someone named Dave married us, but hadn’t met him in a long time, if ever?). So the ladies at the coffee shop are a bit, um, suspicious. “Why is this old guy asking about Emma?!”
🤦♂️
Needless to say, it turned out fine. And what a blessing for our daughter to meet our former pastor, Dave. Yay!
If you find yourself in Steamboat, pop in at 427 Oak Street. Ask for Emma. ☕ 😎
More Sedona, but Not Enough
We had a few more wonderful days there at Sedona Pines. We made the most of it, including some time Melissa got to spend with Cindy. We also took some more hikes and did some more wandering about the town.
We wandered through Tlaquepaque again. What an eclectic place! Worth a visit, folks!
Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head on out. Good-bye Sedona! Good-bye Dave & Cindy! Good-bye beautiful hikes and landscapes! We will see you AGAIN!
The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.Isaiah 35:1-2
Love,
Dan, Melissa, Penny, Clifford, and Brinkley
